Thursday’s Prayer: One Anothering.

24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.– Hebrews 10:24-25

Lord Jesus, you constantly and repeatedly lay out before me the importance of “one anothering.”You remind me how valuable and important the family of faith is to me.You also remind me how valuable and important I am to the family of believers. You created us to live in community. We are better and stronger together. And yet, I so often want to go the way alone. And more than that, I often go my own way without even thinking about or considering what the other people around me need.I’m constantly thinking about “me” time.I’m thinking about my needs.O Lord, forgive for such a selfish focus to my life.Forgive me and help me to consider ways to spur my fellow believers on in their faith.Make me one who puts my arm around people to help and strengthen them in their walk of faith.Make me one who is an encouragement, who has the right words at the right time.Teach me to give up on chasing my needs so that I can meet their needs.O Lord, you will meet all my needs. In Christ, I have all I need.Help me now, in Christ, to meet the needs of the others whom you put in my path.Amen.
