Tuesday’s Prayer: This is Certain.
Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. Hebrews6:17-18
Lord God, I thank you for your desire to make things 100% clear to me and certain for me. Because of my own frailty, my own sinful nature, and the world’s deception, I often find myself unsure and uncertain. I am often very insecure and afraid. I doubt your word and your promises. And I know that this isn’t because you are changing, but because my faith is weak. Lord, I do believe. Help me overcome my unbelief. And you’ve done it. You wanted to make it absolutely clear to me that your promises are sure and certain and so you sealed them with the blood of your Son. You sealed my with your promised Holy Spirit when you poured him out on me at my baptism. You seal it to me again and again and again and again at the Lord’s Supper. O Lord, I am so thankful that you keep reassuring me of your love and your promises because you want me to be sure of your promise and your purpose. Thank you, dear Father. Amen.
