Tuesday’s Prayer: Not Enough
Isaiah 49:6 The LORD says: “It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.
O Lord, what a sweet word this is: “It is too small a thing.” I hear your your heart loudly in this. It wasn’t enough for you to redeem a few people from captivity and restore them to their homeland. You had to bring them all the way home to you in heaven. It wasn’t enough for you to restore one people back to you. You had to bring light and salvation all the way to the end of the earth. I hear you longing for me, Lord. It was too small a thing for you to save some people, you had to save me! And what a wonder, you were not satisfied with me alone, you want the ends of the earth. O Lord, give me a heart and a zeal like yours that will not be satisfied until the Light of the World shines in the hearts and lives of all the world. It is not enough for the people I know to know you. Make me a light even to those I do not yet know so that your salvation reaches to the end of the earth. Your heart and your zeal, Lord, saved me. Grant me the same heart and zeal for you today. Amen.
