Thursday’s Prayer: Wisdom from Above

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. ‭‭James‬ ‭3:13-15‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Lord God, I want do what James says.  I want to resist temptation so that it doesn’t kill me.  I want to be slow to speak and quick to listen.  I want to put rage away.  I want to treat everyone the same.  I want to do more than talk about doing good; I actually want to to do good for my neighbor.  I want to keep my tongue under control and only say things that praise you and are beneficial for my neighbor.  I want to do all this, dear Father.  You have given me a new birth into this new life.  I pray, dear Father, give me wisdom from above.  Change my heart and give me your wisdom, your heart, and your power so that I can do these things.  Pour out your Holy Spirit on me and make me a temple where he dwells.  Fill me with your Spirit and your power so that I can practice these things in my life.  Amen.
