Thursday’s Prayer: Committed to the Word
Afterward, Joshua read all the words of the law—the blessings and the curses—just as it is written in the Book of the Law. There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded that Joshua did not read to the whole assembly of Israel, including the women and children, and the foreigners who lived among them. Joshua8:34-35
Father, you have spoken to us in the Bible about so many things. You have spoken to us about things that you want us to believe. You have spoken to us about things that you want us to do. You have taught us about who we are as humans, humans with a sinful nature. You have taught us about who you are as the almighty God of the universe and an ever-gracious and loving Father. You are so good to speak to us as you have. You have made yourself and your salvation known to us. O Father, we thank you for your goodness to us. I pray, make me always more devoted to know your word, to meditate on it, and then to practice what your Word teaches. I pray, make me always more eager to do the same for the people you have entrusted to my care. Make me ever more devoted to being in your word with my church and family. Your Word is the way we know you; it is the way that we know our salvation. Make me devoted to knowing it and making it known. Amen.
