Tuesday: People of Confession.
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James5:16
Lord God, teach me about the power of confession. I’m so foolish sometimes to hold on to my sins and to keep them to myself. I’m even more foolish at other times to remain unrepentant in my sins. Teach me about the power of confession. You promise that when I confess my sins, you will forgive me, every time. You promised that when one of your children forgives my sins, it is just like you are forgiving my sins. Lord God, teach me about the power and blessing of confession. The absolution that always comes after confession removes sin. It removes guilt from my soul. It lifts a burden from my conscience. And Lord, I’m afraid that sometimes people will hold my sins against me if I confess it. Help me to know that the absolution from you always comes. It will always come from your people who speak the absolution. With you, Lord, there is always forgiveness. Teach me, O Lord, to confess to you so that you might forgive. Amen.
