Wednesday’s Prayer: Not ashamed.
Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters. He says, “I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters; in the assembly I will sing your praises. Hebrews 2:11-12 NIV
What an amazing thing you say to me here, Lord Jesus! We’re part of the same family. You have taken on my flesh and blood. You have shared my humanity. You have come to make me holy. And you are not ashamed of me! I think that amazes me most of all. After all the ways that I have dishonored you and brought your name into disrepute. After all the ways in which I have brought shame to you. You should have disowned me long ago. But you don’t and you won’t. You are not ashamed of me. In fact, you are proud to call me, “Brother.” You are proud to introduce me to our Father and to invite me into your home in heaven, my home! You have cleansed me with water and the word to present me as your bride, holy, pure, radiant and stain free. O Lord Jesus, these are dear words to my soul. Let them drip down into my soul and bring me hope, comfort and joy all day long. Amen.
