Saturday’s Prayer: He can help.
Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. Hebrews 2:18
Lord Jesus, temptation and trial are such a hard thing for me to face. And it’s never ending. From the moment I wake up to the time I go to help, I’m harassed by temptations from without and from within. Even in my night, I am tormented by thoughts and dreams that would pull me from you. The devil never lets up. My sinful nature never leaves me alone. This world is always on attack. Lord Jesus, you get this because you lived and experienced this. You suffered in your temptation. You didn’t face the devil in the wilderness as true God, though you truly were. You faced the devil as true man, like me, weak, frail, and flesh. Surely you suffered under this temptation. Surely this was a difficult match for you. Lord Jesus, by your suffering save me from my failure to win every battle I face. By your understanding of my weakness and my struggle, help me. Come, Lord Jesus, and save me from temptation; yes, deliver me! Come, Lord Jesus, and rescue my by your blood on the cross. Come, Lord Jesus, and help me to overcome the temptations that the devil throws at me day and night. Help me, Lord Jesus. Save me, Lord Jesus. Save me, for I am yours. Amen.
