Saturday's Prayer: God Sees Us

Psalm-8-3-4.jpg

But there is a place where someone has testified: “What is mankind that you are mindful of them, a son of man that you care for him? You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor and put everything under their feet.” Hebrews2:6-8 NIV

O Lord God, you see me.  You always have.  When you created this world and everything in it, you saw me and you knew me.  In fact, you saw and knew all people who would ever walk on this earth. And you gave us a special honor.  You put all things under our feet.  You told Adam and Eve that they were to rule over and subdue everything on the face of the earth.  Although they were less than the angels, you gave them glory and honor and put everything under their feet. B it that’s not what we see anymore.  That’s certainty not what we experience.  We experience animals which fight back against us. We experience weeds in our lawn and storms that destroy property, possessions, and even people. Though you gave all this to us, this is not what we see.  And still, Lord, you see me.  You continue to see me.  You saw that we needed One who would put all things under his control, as we never can.  You saw that I needed One who would set me free from the curse and power of sin.  O God, you still have special concern for me. It isn’t for the angels that Jesus came.  It isn’t for animals that Jesus came.  But for me!  He became a little less than the angels for me.  He took on my flesh and the flesh of all mankind to seek, to save, to redeem, even to restore.  O Lord, how great and glorious is your name in all the earth.  Amen.
