Today, we jump into John chapter two. See if you can catch some of the themes of light and darkness, life and death, grace and truth start to show up in this chapters as Jesus pursues his mission of saving people.
Points to Ponder:
1. Why did Jesus do this miracle? What is he doing?
2. Start to think about all the miracles that Jesus ever did. Who benefited from them? What important and powerful thing is Jesus always doing when he does a miracle?
3. Besides the good wine that he created from water, what else resulted from this miracle of Jesus? How did this miracle strengthen the faith of his disciples? How does it strengthen yours?
What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him. John 2:11
Lord Jesus, you have me convinced. You care about me, even the smallest parts of my life. You might think that the lack of wine at a wedding party wasn’t a big deal, but you care about the happiness and the joy of the wedding part. You might think that the seemingly mundane parts are below you and your care for all people. But here you show once again that you care about every part of my life, even the parts that seem to be insignificant. Jesus, how great and gracious you are to not just care about my eternal salvation, but my earthly joy. Amen.
