Day 12 - John 3:1-15
Today, we jump into John chapter two. See if you can catch some of the themes of light and darkness, life and death, grace and truth start to show up in this chapters as Jesus pursues his mission of saving people. What themes do you notice in chapter 3.
Points to Ponder:
1.Why did Nicodemus come to see Jesus at night? What did he hope to learn from Jesus?
2.Jesus doesn’t directly answer his statement from verse 2. Instead he gets right to the heart of the issue. How might Nicodemus’ understanding of God’s kingdom have been keeping him from understanding Jesus’ life and mission?
3.What key ideas about the kingdom was Jesus’ trying to teach him?
John 3:7 – Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again.
Lord God, thank you for the insight into my faith and life. It doesn’t surprise me anymore that I needed to be born again. I well know from my experience how sinful I am. I know even better from your Word how sinful I am through and through. I know that I’ve been born from a sinful father and mother and that I must be born again of your Spirit. Lord God, thank you for taking the surprise out of it. Thank you for sending your Spirit to blow into my heart so that I know and believe in you. Keep blowing, dear Spirit. Keep changing me. Keep breathing life and faith into me. Keep enlightening me and many others. Amen.
