Day 25 - John 5:16-23
Points to Ponder:
1.As this section begins, why do the Jews dislike Jesus? (V 16)
2.As this section continues, why do the Jews grow in their hatred of Jesus?
3.How far does their hatred go?
4.What does Jesus want them and us to recognize about him?
Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him. – John 5:22-23.
Lord Jesus, you are truly great and not just great, but divine! You are God’s own Son. Yet, there are so many who do not recognize or believe this about you. Some call you the God’s first and greatest creation; they call you great but not God. Some say that you are a great teacher and that you are on the way to becoming a god; they say you are great, but not god. Others claim that you are a great teacher and prophet, but that’s it. They can’t bear the truth that you – the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – are one God in three persons and three persons in one God. They can’t bear the truth that you, Lord Jesus, can be both 100% man and 100% God in one person. And, to be sure, this is a great mystery that requires the faith of a child of accept it. So, Lord Jesus, I pray, pour out your Holy Spirit on all people so that they might recognize that you are equal to the Father in deity and glory. I pray, pour out your Spirit on all people so that instead of fighting against you and desiring Christianity to die, that they might come to worship and honor you as the one whom God has sent to save. Holy Spirit, come and save. Come and convert. Come and give faith. Amen.
