Day 26 - John 5:24-30
Points to Ponder:
1.Make a list of the things that the Father has given Jesus authority to do.
2.Make a list of the things that Jesus does together with the Father.
3.What is Jesus teaching us about himself and about his relationship with the Father?
4.What does he want from the Jews as a result of this teaching? What does he want from us as he lays this truth in front of us?
Truly I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life. – John 5:24.
Lord Jesus, you are truly one with the Father. You do nothing on your own, but you always work in perfect unity with the Father in all that you do. In perfect concert with the Father you give life to all who believe in you today and forever. On the last day you will raise all the day, both those who believe in you and those who do not believe in you. Those who believe in you will rise to live forever with you in eternity. Those who refuse to believe will rise to be condemned and to be sent away from you. I pray, Lord Jesus, keep me from unbelief. The people listening to you that day were only growing more and more angry as you explained all these things to them. They hated the idea that you were one with the Father and that you had all this authority and were worthy of all this honor. Keep me from this dear Father in heaven. Keep me from unbelief. Keep working in me by your Spirit that I might joyfully hear your word, believe in you and the Father as one God, and so pass from death to life. Grant me faith to always believe in you. Do whatever it takes in me and in my life so that my heart never hardens to your voice. Do whatever it takes in me so that my heart always hears and believes in you. I want to live with you forever, dear Jesus. Keep me in this faith forever. Amen.
