Day 36 - John 6:60-71
Points to Ponder:
1. Why were so many offended by what Jesus had been saying?
2. What must the Spirit do in them and in us?
3. What good confession did Peter and the other disciples make?
The Spirit is the one who gives life. The flesh doesn’t help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life – John 6:63
Lord Jesus, the more I live the more inept, incapable and insufficient I feel. I see my own sinfulness more and more each and every day. I see my weaknesses and insufficiencies for my callings more and more clearly. I realize how weak and incapable I am of improving and changing. I just don’t have it in me. I struggle with nearly the same sins every single day. I do battle with the same thoughts almost every single day. I war with the same doubts, the same questions, the same worries time and time again. I just don’t have the power. I get what you’re saying Jesus when you say, “The flesh doesn’t help at all.” That’s why I’m asking you Spirit to transform and change me from the inside out. That’s why I’m asking you to shape me, mold me, even prune me as a gardener prunes his bushes and plants. I am your workmanship, created in Jesus, a masterpiece for your glory. Keep working on me Father, Son, and Spirit and don’t quit. Keep working on me and keep making me into the masterpiece you’ve already created me to be. Amen.
