Day 28 - John 5:41-47
Points to Ponder:
1.Why did the Jews refuse to accept Jesus?
2.When Jesus told them that their accuser was Moses, what did he mean? How was it true?
3.What was Jesus explaining to us about the message of both the Old and the New Testament?
4.What is your purpose for getting into the Bible?
John 5:46 – For if you believed Moses, you would believe me, because he wrote about me.
Lord Jesus, the entire Scriptures talk about you and your saving work. From the very beginning of this divinely inspired book, you are proclaimed as Creator and Redeemer. You were right there when the heavens were made and the earth was formed. You were right there when Adam and Eve sinned, promised as the One who would crush the servants head. The Scriptures are all about you. And yet, so many people miss the point. They see the Bible as a self-help book, meant to help us get through the troubles of the Bible. We look to it as a how-to-get-through-life-book. It’s so much more! They see the Bible as a book full of wisdom, giving wisdom and advice for life. Sometimes, dear Jesus, this even happens to me. I read the Bible looking for a bit of wisdom. I read the Bible because that’s what I’m supposed to do. It’s so much more! There is so much more in the Bible than just wisdom and help for my life here. This inspired book is all about you. As I read and study your Word, help me to see you on every page and squeeze every drop of truth out of it that I can. Amen.
