Day 51 - John 9:1-12
Points to Ponder:
1.The gut assumption of the disciples when the saw the blind man was that there was a sin involved. Why is that their gut reaction?
2.Why is that often our gut reaction when hardship or trouble strikes?
3.What reason did Jesus give for his blindness?
4.Why is this always the reason when hardship or trouble strikes – or really for all things in life?
Jesus answered, “This came about so that the works of God might be displayed in him. We must do the works of him who sent me while it is day. Night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” – John 9:3-4.
Lord Jesus, your whole purpose in coming to this world is to do and to display the works and the glory of God. In fact, you show us even more. You show us that all of us are here to display the works and glory of God. All events and circumstances in life exist and occur to do the same. Lord God, you want us to see and to show your glory in all of our life. Yet, so often I miss it. I miss the glory because I see the trouble. I miss your works because I see the sin. I miss what you are doing because I fixate on the trouble, the trial, and the sin. Lord Jesus, shine brightly so that I might see how and where and when you are working in this world. And when I cannot see what you are doing or why exactly you are doing it, help me to trust that you are indeed working all things for the glory of God. Then, Lord Jesus, help me to join you in working the works of God. Help me to work while it is day, today, dear Jesus. Amen.
