Day 30 - John 6:1-15
Points to Ponder:
1.Why were the crowds coming to and around Jesus?
2.What question did Jesus ask Philip?
3.What kind of answer did Jesus question expect? (What was Jesus expecting and wanting Philip to do?)
4.What did Jesus do for the people, when Philip expressed his inability to do it?
5.What do we learn about the nature of Jesus in this account?
When Jesus looked up and noticed a huge crowd coming toward him, he asked Philip, “Where will we buy bread so that these people can eat?” He asked this to test him, for he knew what he was going to do. John 6:5-6.
Lord Jesus, you are always so generous and kind. You looked up at this crowd who only wanted to take from you. They had seen your miracles and the wonders you were doing; they wanted more of that. And yet, in love for them you noticed the large numbers of them and wanted to help them. You wanted to care for them and you wanted your disciples to join you in this. Lord Jesus, make me compassionate, gracious, and generous like you. You willingly and freely gave to me. You willingly and freely did this miracle for the crowds. Make me gracious and generous like you. Help me to open up my hand to freely give to those who have need. This is how you have loved me. Help me to love other people like you love me. Amen.
