Day 59 - John 10:22-30
Points to Ponder:
1.What promise does Jesus make to his sheep from himself?
2.What promise does Jesus make to his sheep from the Father?
3.Which is a greater promise? Why?
My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one. John 10:27-30
Lord Jesus, I am so secure in your grip. I am so secure in my Father’s grip. He is greater than all and he is holding me. I am so safe, so secure, because you are holding me. Keep me from a false security that would lead me to walk away from your grip. If the Devil can’t get at me because I am gripped and guarded by you, he will certainly try to lure me out from behind the walls of your fortress. He will try to lure me away from you with temptations that seem sweet, that appear to be good for food. Once he lures me out, that’s when he’ll pounce and destroy me. That’s when he’ll swallow me up with temptation and sin. He’ll try to lead me further and further away from you. Keep me from this dear Shepherd. Keep me close. Stop his fiery darts of temptation from even getting near me. And when they come, dear Shepherd, douse them with your Word so that these temptations don’t draw me at all. Dear Savior, the danger to my soul never stops. Keep me in your grip and never let me go. Amen.
