Day 68 - John 12:1-11
Points to Ponder:
1.What did Mary do for Jesus?
2.How valuable was this gift? What would it be worth today?
3.In accepting it, what does Jesus say about our gifts to him no matter the size or extravagance?
Jesus answered, “Leave her alone; she has kept it for the day of my burial. For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” – John 12:7-8.
Lord Jesus, the world does not understand why I do what I do for you. They do not understand why I give my offerings; I could use them for so many other things. They do not understand why I give my time to other people; I could do so many other things for myself with that time. They do not understand why I give up my Sunday morning or other times during the week for time in prayer and meditation. And sometimes I wonder too. I consider what I’m giving and how I’m spending my time and wonder if it could be used in ways that benefited me more. Lord Jesus, it is all for you, out of love for you and all that you have done for me. I can’t even begin to repay you for all your goodness to me. And I’m not even gong to try. But, Lord Jesus, I am thankful for you and all that you did and do for me. You were committed to dying and being buried for me. You rose from the dead and rescued me from an eternity in hell. Lord Jesus, to this and especially to me you were committed. Help me to give myself for you. Help me to give all that I have for you and your glory. And when I do, you love it and delight in it. Amen.
