Day 76 - John 13:6-17
Points to Ponder:
1.Why did Jesus do what he did? There are two reasons.
2.Why did Jesus take this opportunity to teach them these things?
So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should also do just as I have done. John 13:14-15
Lord Jesus, you came from heaven to this earth to rescue me and all people from our sin. You got down into our mess to save and redeem us. You were and still are King of kings and Lord of lords. And yet, yet, you got down on your hands and knees to wash the stinky, dirty feet of your disciples. Lord Jesus, you have given me a highly exalted status. You call me a child of eternity, an heir of heaven, and a kingly priest. You have given me a high status. And yet, yet, you call me and teach me to lower myself below the lowest of the low to wash their feet. You call me to lower myself and set aside my exalted status so that I might be a servant. This is where I struggle Jesus. This is where it’s hard. So, I pray, help me to follow your example to become a servant of all people no matter what serving them looks like or means. Help me to remember who I am and to do what you did. On this night of your betrayal, you showed me how to show love. Help me to follow your example. Amen.
