Day 77 - John 13:18-30
Points to Ponder:
1.Jesus was troubled in his spirit as he began to talk about Judas’ betrayal. Why do you think that was?
2.What do you learn about Judas in this section?
3.Why did Judas ultimately do what he did? Whose fault was it? Why do you think that?
When Jesus had said this, he was troubled in his spirit and testified, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.” John 13:21
Lord Jesus, you loved Judas deeply. That’s at least part of the reason you’re so overwhelmed and troubled when you start to talk about what he’s going to do. It broke your heart because you knew what this meant for his spiritual standing. You knew that Satan would enter him and lead him far from God. It broke your heart because you knew what it meant for you. It meant that your own suffering and death was not far away any longer. So much troubled you that night. And yet, you loved deeply even though it would cost you greatly. Dear Jesus, you have such a love for me. Your heart is troubled at the very thought of my falling away. Your heart is troubled at the very thought of me falling into sin. Dear Jesus, I pray deliver me from the evil One and keep me far from temptation. I need your intervention and your help. I need your strength and your power. I need your angels and your own presence right at hand. I know that you love me as deeply as you loved Jesus. Keep me from falling from faith. Amen.
