Day 80 - John 14:1-7
Points to Ponder:
1.What does Jesus do for his disciples in this section?
2.Why does he need to do this at this point in the night? (Keep in mind when this whole conversation is happening.)
3.What makes it hard for the disciples (and us) to hear and heed “do not let your hearts be troubled”?
4.What reasons are there to keep our hearts from being troubled?
In my Father’s house are many rooms; if not, I would have told you. I’m am going away to prayer a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be. You know the way to the place where I am going. John 14:2-4.
Lord Jesus, you speak with such confidence and certainty. You want my heart to be sure and certain too. You want me to know that despite the trouble and uncertainty and shakiness of my life and this world, that my eternity with you is never in question. You have gone ahead of me and you are preparing a place for me. Dearest Jesus, I can’t wait for that day when I will get to see what you’ve been working on all these years since you’ve ascended into heaven. I can’t wait for that day when you will come for me and take me to the place where you are. I can’t wait for that day when you will tear apart the clouds and come with trumpet sound to scoop me up in your arms and usher me into my home with you and the Father and the Holy Spirit for all eternity. You will do these things. I am confident of it. You have spoken and you will not change your mind. Increase me confidence in your promises more and more every day. Increase my hope and my longing for your kingdom more and more each day. Increase in my firmness and steadfastness in this life, the same confidence that you exuded even while you faced a most bitter day. You are my Savior and I can’t wait to be with you. Keep me until that day. Amen.
