Day 57 - John 10:11-13
Points to Ponder:
1.Compare hired hands to the good Shepherd.
2.Make a list of all the reasons that Jesus, the Shepherd, is good.
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. John 10:11.
Lord Jesus, you are truly good in every way. As you shepherd and care for your sheep – for me – you only do what is good and best for me. Your staff and your Word they guide, direct, and even discipline me so that I stay on the path of your Word. Lord, I admit that I often chafe under the discipline of your staff. I chafe because it smarts. It hurts, Lord, when you discipline me. Dear Shepherd, I am learning that you only discipline me because you love me an want to keep me close. Discipline is your loving hand drawing and keep me close to you. Teach me to say, “Thank you,” for your discipline. Lord, I know you only desire my good and you design all things for my good. That’s why you laid down your life. It was only for my good – and for the good of the whole world. The pain of your cross was greater than any pain I endure as discipline. And it was for my good. For the good of the whole world. Lord Jesus, help me to see and to believe that you are always good, even when it hurts. Amen.
