Day 93 - John 16:25-33
Points to Ponder:
1.What promises does Jesus make to his disciples in this section?
2.What confidence do these promises and the clear words of Jesus give the disciples (and us)?
On that day you will ask in my name, and I am not telling you that I will ask the Father on your behalf. For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. John 16:26-27.
Dear Father, what joy it is to be near you, to have complete access to you. I get to come into your presence without any mediator, without any hesitation, without any fear at all. Your most sacred spaces are open and accessible to me. And so, dear Father, my heart is an open book before you. I can come to you openly and confidently, boldly and courageously, without any fear at all. Dear Father, my heart is a jumbled mess and you know it. The thoughts and fears that I have and that fill my heart overwhelm me and, at times, rock me to my core. Fear of the future and the unknown makes me wonder how it will all work out and am uncertain about how it will all be hold together. Dear Father, you know my heart, and you love me still. You know my uncertainty about my future, but you are not uncertain about it. You know my future and know exactly how it will work out for me. Dear Father, what joy it is to talk to you directly and to come to you in prayer. Calm my troubled and anxious heart with the truth that you hold me and my future in your loving hands. Amen.
