Day 94 - John 16:1-33
Points to Ponder:
1.What promises does Jesus make to his disciples in this chapter?
2.Which one comforts you the most? Why?
I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in the world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world. John 16:33
Jesus you make it clear to me in so many ways that this life will be hard. I will have suffering in this world. Some of it will be my own fault because of my own sin and sinfulness. Some of it will be the fault of the corruption of this world. This world hurts simply because it is not perfect. Some of it will be the fault of other people. They will cause me pain and suffering both purposely and accidentally. I will suffer in this world. But when I do suffer for you, dear Jesus, make me courageous and confident in the face of the suffering. Make me courageous in the face of my own sin because you have forgiven it all. Make me courageous when the world decays around me because you are preparing for me a heaven and an eternity that will never decay. Make me courageous in the face of the sins of other people both because of the forgiveness you have won for them and because of who I know I am in you. I am, with you a conqueror. Lord Jesus, when I suffer, comfort me and make me courageous because of your victory. Amen.
