Day 102 - John 18:19-27
Points to Ponder:
1. What do you learn about the Jews through their line of questioning?
2. What do you learn about Jesus in his answer to them?
3. What does this say to you about the teachings of Jesus?
“I have spoken openly to the world,” Jesus answered him. “I have always taught in the synagogue and in the temple where all the Jews congregate, and I haven’t spoken anything in secret.” John 18:20
Lord Jesus, I am so thankful that you have taught nothing in secret and have kept no secrets from me. There are hidden things that you kept for yourself, things that I don’t need to know and things that I am unable to understand. Your thoughts in so many ways are higher than my thoughts; your ways are not my ways. But Lord Jesus, you have taught me so much and you have taught it publicly and openly in the Scriptures. By your Spirit help me to hear what you teach so openly, to understand it and to believe it. Pour out your Spirit on me and keep me from a hard heart that rejects your teaching. It wasn’t that Jews hadn’t heard your teaching; no, they had rejected it. Keep me from that, O Spirit. Open my ears to hear your teaching. Open my heart to believe your teaching. And keep me in this faith, dearest Jesus. Amen.
