A war without words

Thursday: A War without Words.

Thursday’s Readings: 1 Corinthians 7, 1 Corinthians 11:2-16

1 Peter 3:1-2 – In the same way, wives, submit to your own husbands so that even if some disobey the word, they may be won over without a word by the way their wives live when they observe your pure, reverent lives.

A prayer for wives:

Lord Jesus, when you speak to me in your word about my role as a wife, it is hard for me to swallow. You say, “Submit,” and that rubs me the wrong way. You say, “obey,” and I don’t like to hear it. But Lord Jesus, help me to understand what these words mean and to find joy in my place under my husband. Help me to see that when I find my place under him, I am fighting a war without words. I am showing him Christ. I am winning him over without even saying a word, simply by living joyfully, gladly under him, especially if he doesn’t know you or believe in you. Let my life speak volumes to him about who you are and what you’re like. Let my life win him over for you. Amen.
