Our Mission

We are a community for the community. And we are here to share and to show the forgiveness of God and the love of Jesus.

Our Team

God has blessed us at the Mount with ministry team that loves Jesus and wants to share him with you.  Get to know them below: Pastor Nate Bourman, Pastor Paul Krueger and Staff Minister Michael Schuessler.

Nate Bourman, lead pastor

There are a lot of things that I could and will tell you about myself, but I’m not sure they help you know who I really am.

I could tell you that I've been a pastor at the Mount since April of 2018.  I could tell that I really enjoy working out.  I could tell you that I've been married to my sweetheart, Ruth, since 2002 and that God has blessed us with five children.

I could tell you that as a pastor some of my favorite moments happen at coffee shops over a cup of coffee, God’s Word and prayer.  I could tell you about some of my favorite things about being a pastor, but that’s not who I really I am.

If you want to know who I really am, you have to listen to my Grandpa Monthie.  He wrote a poem about me when I was born.  It goes something like this: What’s he gonna be? A preacher, a teacher, a farmer just like me?  What’s he gonna be? We’ll have to wait and see.  What’s he gonna be?  I’ll tell you, a Christian, just like you and me.

That’s who I am. I am a child of God, adopted by my baptism, cleansed in his blood.   That’s who I really am.

And what do I want?  I want to share Jesus with you.  I'll bend over backwards and do whatever it takes so that I can share Jesus wherever you're at in life.  He is the world's Savior - mine and yours.  And I want you to know it, believe it, and then live it.  I want this truth to change and transform you.

That's my prayer for you, for this church, for this community.

Pastor Nate Bourman

Paul Krueger, school pastor

Pastor Paul Krueger grew up in Midland, MI with his father (Mike), mother (Pam), and two sisters (Rose and Laura).  He attended Lutheran Elementary School at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Midland and then went on to high school at Michigan Lutheran Seminary.  Paul eventually decided to pursue a career in pastoral ministry after a weekend of job shadowing with the pastor of a congregation in Lansing, MI.  He went to Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN and graduated in 2011 with a BA in classical language studies. From there, he went on to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon and graduated with his Masters in Divinity in 2015.

During his time at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Paul spent a full year interning at Cross of Life Lutheran Church in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, a year at St. Marcus Lutheran Church in Milwaukee Wisconsin, and a summer at Sure Foundation Lutheran Church in Queens, NY.  In May of 2015 he was assigned to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Winchester, VA where he has served the past four years.

Last year, Paul met his fiancé, Heather Carmichael.  Heather is a physical therapist and began a three-month position through Aurora in Sheboygan earlier this month.

Paul and Heather are very much looking forward to meeting, interacting with, and growing in faith with the congregation and families of Mt. Lebanon Lutheran Church and School and the Hampton Heights community.

Feel free to give him a call with any questions you might have!

Michael Schuessler, Staff Minister

For most of his career, “Minister Mike” worked in business and industry so he can relate to people in all walks of life.  In 2012 he was called as Staff Minister of Outreach at Mt. Lebanon.  What he enjoys more than anything else is the opportunity to visit with people, listen to their story and share God’s love for them in Jesus Christ.

As Staff Minister, Mike shares devotions with our Food Pantry guests, leads the Monday Night Support Group, teaches Bible Information classes for prospective members, leads our Men’s Ministry Team, visits shut-ins and does just about anything else that would help people learn more about God’s plan of salvation.

Mike has been married to Kathryn for 47 years.  He has three married children and nine grandchildren.  In his spare time he likes to read, play golf, and spend time with his family.
