There are moments of our lives when we grow discouraged and disappointed.  This most often happens because of we have a misplaced sense of identity.  In this sermon, Pastor Paul Krueger shows us how God re-centers Zerubbabel on his God-given identity and purpose, how he set him up on his feet and sent him forward on a mission.  A sermon on Haggai 2:20-23.

The Time is Now - #3 - How > What

There are a lot of questions that we ask when we think about giving our offerings.  We ask “when” should we give them.  Is it a first thing? A last thing? When should we do it?  We ask “how much” should we give?  We want to know how much we should give from what God has given us.  We even want to know “why” we should give.  We want to know and think about what our reason and motive for giving is.  Those are all important questions, but the question we are going to ask and answer is this: How do we give an offering that pleases the Lord?

What if the discussion of giving our offerings was surround by joy and excitement, the same joy and excitement we have when we consider gifts that we want to give to people that we love?

What if we were so excited to give our offerings that we couldn’t wait until Sunday to give them to the Lord?

What if we put as much thought into our offerings as we do into the other gifts that we give?

Our relationship with our God in heaven is so much higher than any other relationship.  In this relationship God wants us to have as much joy and freedom in giving our offerings to him as we have in giving gifts to people we love.

God wants to make that happen in our hearts and his Word will make it happen.

A sermon by Nate Bourman from Mount Lebanon.

NEW SERIES: The Time is Now!

It was a building project disaster.  I’m not sure what we can compare it to.  The people had started to rebuild.  They had laid the foundation.  But then the work stopped. And not just for a little while.  It stopped for 20 years!  Instead of working on this house for God, they went home and made sure that they had comfy posh places to live.  Meanwhile, the place where God came to meet with them and they went to meet with him was in ruins.  It was a building project disaster.  They had started the project, but didn’t finish.  Into this building project disaster, God sent Haggai the prophet to refocus the priorities of the people and rally them around the building of his temple.

The Time Is Now is the study of the book of Haggai and how God used the prophet to lead Israel to rebuild God’s temple. As we live our lives in these last days, it is vital that we hear Haggai’s call and listen to his teaching.

This Sunday, we’ll be digging into Haggai chapter 1.  Read it ahead of time.  It’s a quick read, but a heart probing one.  We can’t wait to take you into it.
