Truth at All Costs - #4 - Truth and Judgment

Truth and Judgment (John 5:19-30)

The resurrection of the dead is coming. Jesus proclaims it. The judgment of all people will follow right behind the resurrection. Jesus makes that clear. What will that day bring? What will that day be like? The truth of God not only teaches us about that day, but prepares us for it so that we will be able to stand before him confidently.

Truth at all Costs - #2 - Truth and Light

TRUTH AT ALL COSTS Martin Luther once said, “Peace if possible; truth at all costs.” Why does the truth of God’s Word and true, biblical teaching matter so much that we would lose everything to keep it? In this series, we explore some of the things that Jesus said about truth and learn why it matters so much that we will die to hold it and give up all things in order to share it.

Truth and Light (John 9:1-7)

As we experience the ups and downs of life, we do not often interpret them properly. One of the common lies that people believe is that bad things happen because of something bad I did. I deserved this. The disciples wondered the same thing about a man who was born blind. They wondered who sinned. Jesus brought the light of his truth to their lives and helped them see that God was working for his glory and this man’s good.

Truth at all Costs - #1 - Truth and Grace

TRUTH AT ALL COSTS

Martin Luther once said, “Peace if possible; truth at all costs.”  Why does the truth of God’s Word and true, biblical teaching matter so much that we would lose everything to keep it? In this series, we explore some of the things that Jesus said about truth, how to use it, how to balance it, and the blessings it brings. In so doing, we will learn why it matters so much that we will die to hold it and give up all things in order to share it.

WEEK #1: TRUTH AND GRACE (JOHN 8:1-11)

As we seek to handle the truth we are often torn between loving people and loving the passage. If we love the people, we might have to give up some of the truth. If we love the truth, we might have to give up on people. But Jesus shows us another way. In a dramatic living out of his purpose, Jesus loved both the passage and the person. He showed that he truly had come from the Father full of truth and grace.

The Light has Come - #5 - God in the Spotlight

Whatever you magnify is bigger.  That’s true of things we put under a microscope.  That’s true of things we look at through a telescope.  That’s even true of the things in our life that we focus on and magnify.  Today, as we wrap up our series on John 1 we want to magnify our God.  The things that we face are small and he is big; he is gracious. We want to see God and magnify him as he really is; and Jesus reveals him to us. This is a sermon by Pastor Nate Bourman from Mount Lebanon on John 1:18.

The Light has Come - #4 - Under the Shadow of his Wings

We live and move and breathe under the shadow of his wings. We lived this past year under the shadow of his forgiveness, of his perfection, and his guiding hand. Tonight, we leave this past year under the cover of his blood and move into the coming year under the cover of his righteousness and under the shield of his protection. We live, move and rest under the shadow of his wings.

You’re listening to a sermon by Pastor Nate Bourman from Mount Lebanon on John 1:14-17.

The Light has Come - #3 - Received and Rejected

Christ came into the world he created, but it rejected him.  Jesus came to his own people, but they did not receive him.  It isn't just confusing, it is heartbreaking.  But to us who receive him, he has given us the right to be children of God.  We are the reason for the season; he came to make us children of God. This is a sermon by Pastor Paul Krueger from Mount Lebanon on John 1:10-13.

The Light has Come - #1 - In the Beginning

The story of this world begins with these three words: “in the beginning.”  In the beginning God created light and brought light into this dark world.  But sin brought darkness and death to this world and our lives.  But here we are at the beginning of Jesus’ story.  He brings light and life to this world and to our lives. This is a sermon by Pastor Paul Krueger from Mount Lebanon on John 1:1-4.
